Tools have been used by humanity since the dawn of our existence to help us accomplish countless tasks. GIS has developed
into a tool used around the globe, a tool with limitless possibilities. Used by millions for navigation, GIS has quietly
become a permanent tool used in our lives. A tool used by our neighbors to find the store nearest their home, a tool used
by the Military to accomplish their mission, a tool used to explore mysteries of the past, whatever the goal GIS makes our Mission Possible.
The South Florida GIS Expo has long been a tool for networking with other GIS professionals and as we celebrate our 14th anniversary,
this year’s Expo will be no exception. In the aftermath of the hurricanes in recent years, GIS has moved from a ‘backroom operation’
to an integral tool in decision-making. As more agencies increase their use of GIS, the demand for training, networking and data sharing
continues to grow. As these demands grow, it becomes increasingly apparent that data and resource sharing across departmental and even
jurisdictional lines is beneficial and more cost effective for everyone. With all of this comes a mission for GIS professionals to broaden
their skills and network with other GIS professionals. The South Florida GIS Expo makes this Mission Possible. [continue]
